Hey,
Before you read anything else, do one thing for me.
Pick up your phone, open your brand's page in a private tab (or log out of Instagram), and tap the link in your bio.
Don't look at it like the owner. Look at it like somebody who saw one of your fits in a friend's story, has never heard of you, and has about eight seconds of patience.
What did they see?
On October 28 I did exactly that for 30 clothing brands that follow me. 14 of them linked to a Shopify store. 4 of those 14 said "Store unavailable." The bio above it was still promoting a drop. Three more opened on a raw something.myshopify.com address, the exact link that makes people comment "legit?" Seven brands had no store at all and were taking orders by DM.
I'm not naming anyone. I'm telling you because it's the most common reason I see for a drop that only friends buy, and nobody tells you, because your friends don't need the link. They already know you.
Strangers need the link. And strangers are the whole point.
You've probably seen comments like these. Maybe you've written one:
"I developed it for 8 months and dropped it 2 days ago. So far, no sales at all although ive had a lot of positive feedback."
"What should a brand do if we make 50 shirts, and sell only 10 or 15?"
(Real YouTube comments from clothing brand owners. Not my customers.)
Here's what I think is going on, and you can tell me if I'm wrong. Your friends buy because they know you. A stranger buys only if three things happen:
- The store looks legit in the first eight seconds: a real domain, real photos, sizes that work, a checkout that doesn't look like a test.
- They know when. A countdown, an early-access list, a date. "Dropping soon 🔥" isn't a date.
- Something reminds them on drop day. A text. An email. Not a post the algorithm shows to a slice of your followers.
Miss any one and they leave. They don't DM you to say why. They just leave, and you decide the clothes weren't good enough, or you need more followers.
It's usually not the clothes, and it's usually not the follower count. It's what happens after the tap.
So here's what I'm offering, in a few lines.
First, the free part. There's a Discord. It costs nothing, ever. Post your store in #store-check and I'll look at it. Every Saturday I get on a call and tear one member's store down on screen, logged out, like a stranger. Come to that even if you never pay me a dollar.
Then there's Pro, for when you have a drop coming. Within 48 hours of joining you get a video of me going through your store and drop page, with the first thing to fix. You get the 4 texts and 3 emails I'd send if the drop were mine, already written; you fill in names and pieces. Your early-access list and your countdown page get set up step by step. If you want to run $5 a day in ads to people who already know you, I approve the ad before it spends a cent. And twice a week, Monday and Thursday, there's a live call where you bring your numbers and I tell you what I'd change.
You do the work. I check it. I don't run it for you, and that's on purpose: you'll have to do it again next drop, and the drop after that.
Pro is $97 a month. Cancel in one click, no call, no email chain, and you keep the theme, the templates and the people you met. Most brands join about a month before a drop and some leave after it. That's fine. Come back when the next one's coming, at the price you joined at.
For the first 25 brands, it's $67 a month, locked for as long as you stay or come back.
I owe you the real reason for that, because a discount without a reason is usually a trick. I have zero Pro results yet. None. I've built 40+ stores for clothing brands since July, and I've run stores, emails and ads for brands as an agency. But this exact thing, me checking your store around your drop while you run it, is new. The first 25 brands are the ones I learn the most from. With your OK, they're also the ones I show the next brands. You go first, so you pay less.
And there's a real reason it closes Fri Nov 13, 11:59pm ET: Black Friday is Friday, November 27. If you want to drop for it, your list needs to be live, the texts written, and your countdown page up 72 hours early. That's about 14 days of work. After the 13th there isn't room to do it right, and I'd rather not take your money for a drop I can't help properly.
Now, the part you're actually wondering about: "Another 16-year-old with a Shopify screenshot." Fair. Here's what you can check:
- Stores I built that are live right now. Open them on your phone: silentconstruct.com, madmaxhours.net, shelikemyjeans.com, cireline.store.
- Dashboards from brands I ran as done-for-you work: $99,901 in 3 months (1,230 orders); $110,038 in a year on one store. They're theirs, not mine. They're not typical, and those brands are bigger than most of you.
- I'll screen-share any of it live if you DM me. I'd rather you check than trust me.
I stopped selling most brands a $1,500-a-month retainer because most of the ones I talked to couldn't afford it and didn't need it. They needed a store that looks legit, a way to reach people on drop day, and someone to look at it before it went out.
Here's my promise. Run the steps. If your drop sells under 80% of your number in the 7 days after drop day, with at least 30% of orders from first-time customers counted, your next month of Pro is free and we go through what broke, live. Every condition is written out below, because a promise with hidden conditions is worthless. And if you change your mind in the first 7 days, for any reason, it's one message and a full refund.
I don't promise you money. If anybody does, close the tab.
Who this isn't for: if you want to post a hoodie and pray, please don't buy this. If you don't have product yet, start with the free store check. If you want somebody to run it all for you, that's my 1:1 ($1,500 setup + $1,500 a month), and it's only for brands already doing $2–3k+ a month.
What to do now: DM me the word STORE on Instagram (@sethmevans) with your bio link and your drop date. You'll get the video, the free Discord link, and the Pro link. Before you pay anything, I'll tell you honestly if your store is ready for this or needs to be live first.
Talk soon,
Seth
@sethmevans
P.S. If you only read this part: a free Discord with a live teardown every Saturday, and Pro, me on your store with you every week. $67 a month for life for the first 25 brands (then $97), cancel in one click. Run the steps and the drop doesn't sell through to new customers, next month's free. Closes Fri Nov 13, 11:59pm ET, or at brand #25. DM STORE.
P.P.S. Not sure you're ready? Do the logged-out tap from the top of this letter first. If your link says "Store unavailable" or opens a raw .myshopify.com address, don't join Pro yet. DM me the link and I'll tell you the fix, free. Sometimes it's just the Shopify plan lapsing, and that's two clicks.
